A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
The Barnum Family, 1517-1904 calls him William Burroge Barnum. The same source says that he had "4 girls" but provides no given names. Simms' History of Elgin County, Vol. 1, pp. 46-47, says that William settled at Lot 22, Con 1, Yarmouth Township and that the village of Barnum's Corners, at the intersection of Elgin County Roads Numbers 24 and 36, gained its name from him. The property is now called Barnum's Gulley and has a road sign posted to that effect.

He was buried in Sparta South Cemetery.
