Hugh Barnum, b. 1 Oct 1862, Brighton twp, Northumberland County, Ontario, married Sarah Delilah Boice 3rd Dec 1884, at Guilford twp, (reg. #209740-85, Ontario Archives).
In 1905, Hugh Barnum went to homestead in Saskatchewan, applying for SE section 28, twp 47; Ridgedale, Sk. He settled in 1906 in a 16 x 20 frame dwelling worth $250.00, by 1909 had 80 acres fenced, 2 stables, a hen house, shop and dug well. He owned between 15 to 30 cattle, 3 to 6 horses 15 pigs and was at that time 46 years old.
