Her surname appears in different sources as both Barnum and Barnam.
She is said to have been the first white, female child born in the newly-settled town of Danbury, Connecticut. If her birth date of "about 1684" were stretched to include 1685, the founding date of Danbury, that statement might be true. However, see the birth note for her younger sister, Abigail, which poses a different possibility.
