Notes for Minnie BARNUM


George W. and Minnie Barnum were twins.
From the Putnam County Courier, February 18, 1943: Mrs. Minnie Barnum Durga, wife of Otis W. Durga of New Milford, Connecticut died at her home at 62 West Street on Saturday, February 13th, 1943, following an illness of two years. Mrs. Durga was born in Haviland Hollow in the town of Patterson (New York) on January 23, 1861, the youngest daughter of George and Susan Durga Barnum. She was married to Otis W. Durga Nov. 5, 1890, and they lived in their Haviland Hollow home near the Connecticut state line until 1920. Mrs. Durga was a member of the Haviland Hollow Methodist Episcopal Church for fifty-six years. She was also a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union since 18S8.
She is survived by her husband and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in New Milford and interment was in Gerow Cemetery.
