Notes for William Henry JUNE


According to the National Archives Civil War Military Pension Record,
William Henry June enlisted 5 Jan 1864 in Company "C", 8th New York
Heavy Artillery, commanded by Colonel P. A. Porter. He was shot in
the right foot on 3 Jun 1864 at the Battle of Cold Harbor. After
confinement in Lincoln Hospital in Washington, he was returned to duty
at Petersburg, Virginia. He then contracted typhoid fever and spent
the remainder of his service at the regimental hospital and hospitals
at City Point, Fort Schuyler, New York and Saint Mary's Hospital in
Rochester.
Calculated from age at death.
The Bryan, Ohio "Democrat" for July 11, 1889 (p 5, c1) and the Bryan
"Press" of July
11, 1889 both stated that William June died at his residence in the
north part of Bryan on 9 July 1889, after a long illness. He was 52
years old.
