He was at one time the Assistant Pastor of Boston's Tremont Temple. His son, Harold Barnum Deming, recalled that his father once prevailed upon his wife Abigail's first cousin Phineas Taylor "P.T." Barnum to allow him the use of the circus tent to stage a revival meeting on Sunday (when the circus could not perform). Supposedly, a storm nearly blew the tent down, an occurrence which the church elders took as a sign of God's displeasure with such a frivolous venue for a religious meeting. An interesting historical side note to this incident is that to announce the hastily scheduled revival meeting the Church was granted permission to display posters in Boston trolleys -- the first "transit advertising" in Boston history!
Richard Earle, great grandson of Reverend Minor Rudd Deming, states "I have a nice family portrait of Rev. Minor and Mary Frances and seven of the children (plus my father and aunt) taken in 1916."
