Notes for Maggie EDMONDSON


Her first husband was James Tubbs as indicated in the 1900 census. She was living as a widow by 1910 and married C.W. Barnum as her second husband in 1926.
From the Brookshire Times, Waller Count, Texas, October 29, 1959: Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Brookshire on Friday for Mrs. Maggie Edmondson Barnum. Interment was in the Pattison Cemetery under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barnum died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday in a Houston hospital where she had been taken on Tuesday. She had been in ill health for a number of years. She was born in the Brookshire community on August 23, 1878; the daughter of John Edmondson and Mary S. Patton Edmondson. She grew up in the community and at her death was the oldest living member of the Baptist church here. She was also a charter member of the Brookshire Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
She leaves a record of being a fine person and a devoted wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, C. W Barnum; daughters, Crystelle Tubbs, Houston, Mrs. Aline Mitchell and Jimmie Dell Tubbs and her son L.S. (Lucius Samuel) Tubbs all of Brookshire; her grandson, John Mitchell, Houston; sisters, Mrs. J. W. Avery, Brookshire, Mrs. C. R. Taylor, North Carolina, Mrs. A. H. Menefee, Madisonville, Mrs. W. M. Johnson, Houston, Miss Bobbie Edmondson, Mrs. R. R. Bains, and Mrs. L. W. Stout all of Baytown.
