From Linn Digest, Linn, Kansas, 8 February 1929: Mrs. Whaley Passes. Mrs. Miranda Irene Whaley died at Centralia, Washington, November 20, at 2 a. m., of heart trouble, according to word received here last week, by relatives.
Miranda Irene Dinwiddie was born at Buffalo, Illinois May 6, 1863 and died at the age of 68 years, six months and 14 days. She moved to Kansas with her parents and January 30, 1881, was married to David Whaley. To this union five children were born: Mrs. Maude Jones of Sublimity, Oregon; Charles Whaley of Woodland, California; Mrs. Lizzie Pruitt of Crane, Oregon; Lester Whaley of Orofino and Floyd Whaley of Boise, Idaho.
Funeral services were conducted at Yelm, Washington November 25 at 2 p. m. and burial was made at that place.
Mr. Whaley, her husband, preceded her to the grave two years ago. They lived at Weippe where they were engaged in the laundry business for a few years. Since his death Mrs. Whaley spent some time in California and with her son Lester, of Weippe, leaving there for Centralia two months ago.
