Obituary from an unidentified contemporary newspaper: Eleanor M. Barnum, 94, formerly of Ligonier and Syracuse, passed away on August 7, 2014 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on July 7, 1920 in Ligonier, IN to A. Dewey and Ruth (Mock) Biddle. She married Orlo Kenneth (Kenny) Barnum on October 5, 1940 in Albion. He preceded her on death September 6, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Bill Barnum of Fort Wayne, IN, a daughter, Marge (Roger) Kryder of Syracuse, IN, 3 grandchildren: Richard Barnum of Goshen, Andy (Colleen) Kryder of North Webster and Aaron (Daviana) Kryder of Willits, CA. Eleanor was great-grandmother to Cammy, Nate, Zack, Giovi and Dominic Kryder.
Mrs. Barnum was employed with Wirk Garment for 25 years. After their retirement in 1981, Eleanor and Ken moved to Syracuse from Ligonier. Eleanor and Ken were longtime members of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. They loved to travel and spend time with their family.
A funeral service in her honor will be at 11 AM Monday August 11, 2014 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastors Harlan Steffen and Brad Cox with Wawasee Lakeside Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, IN.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 PM Sunday August 10, 2014 at the funeral home. Yeager Funeral Home - August 7, 2014.
