From the Record Eagle, Michigan, August 16, 2015: Grawn — Clara J. Willacker, 87, of Grawn, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015 at Munson Medical Center with family by her side. Clara was born in 1928 in Farmington the youngest of 12 children of William and Clara (Pawlowski) Barnum. She was wed to Martin Willacker Jr. in 1946 and stayed home to raise her five children. Clara volunteered with the Girl Scouts for 12 years, the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor for five years and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was 48 years old when she and her husband moved from Novi to Grawn. At that time she went to work for Kmart, retiring after 25 years. After retirement Clara and her husband spent the winters in Florida and enjoyed traveling. Clara enjoyed annual family camping trips, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, reading books, baking and especially chocolate! She was a simple woman, devoted to her family. She was strong willed and strict, but her love for her family was never in question. She felt she had accomplished everything she wanted with the love of her life at her side. She lived a full life. Clara is survived by her children, Roberta (Henry) Lehtola, John (Donna) Willacker, Annette (Clayton) Herrington and Carla (Jerry) Snelling; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Willacker; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Martin Willacker Jr.; son, Martin Willacker III; her parents; and siblings. Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley, followed by a graveside service at Barnum Cemetery in Mayfield.
