Notes for Martin Peter WILLACKER


From the Record Eagle, Michigan, June 19, 2015: Buckley — Martin “Pete” P. Willacker III, age 65, of Buckley, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Monday, June 15, 2015. He was born in Detroit to Martin and Clara Willacker Jr. He married Kathleen Boles on May 3, 1969 in Walled Lake. Together they raised four children. Pete enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam with the 11th Artillery, 101st Air Mobile, Camp Eagle, Phu Bai. Pete moved the family to Buckley from Novi in 1978. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 2012. Pete loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. Pete will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathleen; children, Valerie (Matt) Duperon, of Lake Leelanau, Martin “Marty” P. Willacker IV, of Wyoming, Michigan, Shelly Willacker, of Buckley, and Brian Willacker, also of Buckley; one grandchild, Gabrielle Willacker; mother, Clara Willacker, of Grawn; siblings, Roberta (Henry) Lehtola, John (Donna) Willacker, Annette (Clay) Herrington and Carla (Jerry) Snelling; and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and cousins. Pete was preceded in death by his father, Martin P. Willacker Jr. in 2003. A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 1 p.m., at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City, with visitation starting at noon.
