Barnum, Celinda Flint, 7 Jan 1824, is listed as a child of Milo Barnum and Abigail Flint, although Milo and Abigail were not married until 1834. Family records (supplied by descendant Mary Ann Meeker) also say that she married a Brock. That would be George Abercrombie Brock. The 1851 census for Danville, Shipton, Québec lists her as Selinda Barnum, born in Canada and age 27, resident in the household of Milo Barnum.
Mary Ann Meeker wrote, on 20 Jan 2005: "All of my family records that were written down in 1935 show Celinda Flint Barnum as a child of Milo and Abigail, but Milo was not in Quebéc in 1924 when she was born. As best I can figure from the 1825 census for Shipton, Abigail is still at home and, although it shows one child under 6, she had a sister under 6 at that time. I have all the info on her, when she was born, who she married, her children and when she died, but can't find out who she really is. I guess I will have to show her as an adopted child, even though she married under the name of Celinda Flint. I don't think back then they did adoptions that required recording.
"My records also list another daughter who appears in the 1861 census for Shipton as 3 years old and then in the 1870 US Census as 12, still living with Milo and his daughter Althea. Her name was Gertrude Edith Barnum and she married under the name of Barnum. The trouble is that Abigail was way too old to have a child that young."
