George Barnum was a good friend of Mollie and Emil Britt (children of the pioneer photographer Peter Britt) and the Southern Oregon historical Society has a collection of photographs of George Barnum on various outings with his first wife and child and Mollie and Emil.

From the Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune of 1 December 1974: George Albert Barnum, 83, of 1646 Spring St., Medford, died Friday in a local hospital. Funeral arrangements are contracted to Siskiyou Funeral Service directors of Chapel in the Trees Mortuary.

From the Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune of 2 December 1974: Funeral services for George Albert Barnum, 83, of 1646 Spring St., Medford, who died Friday will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel in the Trees Mortuary in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Barnum was born Feb. 26, 1891 in Medford. He was a longtime resident of Oregon and of this community.
On Jan. 13, 1934, at Reno, Nev., he married Mae Laura Heath, who survives.
Mr. Barnum owned and operated Barnum Machine Shop, Medford, for 44 years.
He also taught vocational training at the Medford Senior High School for many years.
He was a member of the Masonic Order and of the Hillal Temple Shrine of Ashland.
Survivors besides his wife include one son George C. Barnum, Medford; one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Hunt, Portland; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Friends who wish may make a contribution in his memory to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital, Portland.
The body will lie in state from 7 until 8:30 o'clock this evening at the Chapel in the Trees Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are contracted to Siskiyou Funeral Service directors of Chapel in the Trees Mortuary.
