Anna Maria Smith was born in Easton, Washington County, New York in June 1821 and married William Henry Burnham about 1841. She and William had 4 children: Henrietta Maria, born 1842; Hannah Louise, born New York 1843; Theodora Augusta, born New York 1845; Mary Ellen, born New York 1846 and Katharine (Kate), born 1852 Monticello, Sullivan, New York.
In the 1855 Sullivan County census she and two daughters were enumerated in the household of William C. Bassett.
Anna Maria divorced William Henry Burnham on 23 September 1857 and ultimately remarried Charles Martin. She was living with Mary Ellen Burnham Langdon in 1880 in Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin. Her
father was born in Connecticut and her mother in New Hampshire.
Anna's obituary in the Baraboo Evening News states that she moved to Iowa with her family in 1856 and lived there until 1867, when she went to live with her daughter Mary Ellen. She is in the 1856 Iowa Agriculture census in Benton County.
She is listed as Anna M. Martin on her death certificate and died of old age at the residence of her son-in-law Cortez A. Langdon on 13 December 1898.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, though initially in Baraboo she attended the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. C.L. Richards.
She was buried in Baraboo/Walnut Hill Cemetery.
