From the Albany Times Union, Albany, NY, July 7, 2011: Cohoes, NY- Jean Barnum Hughes, 84, formerly of Troy, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Eddy Village Green after a long illness. Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Harold K. Barnum and Grace Lang Barnum and wife of the late Wallace Bohnhoff and Leslie James Hughes. She had resided in Cohoes and Albany, many years in East Greenbush, and on Hamilton Avenue in Troy prior to Millers Corners in Schodack, Hawthorne Ridge and since March of 2011, at Village Green in Cohoes and was a graduate of Cohoes High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Miami and a partial Masters from the University of Albany. Mrs. Hughes was a teacher for the U.S. Army, preparing soldiers for their GED during World War II and a homemaker. She was a member of the East Greenbush Eastern Star and enjoyed playing bridge and reading detective stories. Survivors include her sister, Ruth B. Campbell, Troy; two nieces, Sarah C. (Sally) Becker, Greenwich and Nancy (Edward) Petteys, Rensselaer; two nephews, William J. (Andrea) Campbell, Delhi, and David Robert Campbell, Wynantskill; great-nieces and nephews, Johanna (Carlos Sesia) Campbell, Andrew (Ashley) Campbell, Benjamin (Julie) Campbell and a beloved friend, Monica Kilgallon, Troy.
