The Town of Mendon was organized in 1813 in Ontario County, New York and was annexed by Monroe County when that county was created in 1821.
William Barnum is buried next to his wife, Jennie Knight Barnum, in the Pioneer section of the Honeoye Cemetery. They are buried in Row 8, the second stone from the left as you are facing the oldest part of the cemetery. William Barnum’s gravestone inscription says “father” 1838 – 1902.”
