Notes for Charles Ray BARNUM

Charles Ray Barnum was usually referred to as C. Ray Barnum, although his obituary calls him Ray C. Barnum.
From The Journal & Republican, Lowville, N.Y., Thursday, April 13, 1939: Ray C. Barnum, former agent of the Lowville & Beaver River Railroad in Lowville and Croghan, died April 5, 1939, in St. Petersburg, Florida where he and Mrs. Barnum were spending the winter. The body will be cremated and the ashes brought here for interment. Mr. Barnum was born near Castorland on March 7, 1888, son of Alden and Elizabeth Beyer Barnum. After he left the employ of the railroad he was claim agent for the American Express Company with headquarters in Detroit for some time and later was employed by the Ruud Water Heater Company, Rochester and Baltimore, until failing health forced his retirement last year when he returned to Lowville. In 1914, he married Marguerite Abell of Lowville who survives. He also leaves a half-sister, Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Bingle, Carthage, N.Y.
