From an unidentified contemporary newspaper at Sibley, Ford County, Illinois, Thursday, November 3, 1938: J. C. Ballinger Dies. Funeral services for J. C. Ballinger were conducted at 1:20 at the Lovern Ballinger home and at 2:00 P. M. Thursday in the Sibley M. E. Church, with the Rev. C. R. Lockard in charge. Interment took place in the Mount Hope cemetery. Mr. Ballinger was born at Anchor, in the business life of Sibley for nearly forty years, during which time he had made hosts of friends who sincerely mourn his passing.
Obituary: Jess C. Ballinger died at his home in Sibley at 11:30 P.M. October 28, 1938 at the age of 57 years, 10 months, 24 days after an illness of 3 months. Mr. Ballinger was born at Anchor, Illinois on December 4, 1880. He moved to Kansas at an early age, later returning to Sibley where he has made his home for 40 years.
He was united in marriage to Eva A. Brower on Jan. 20, 1904 whom preceded him in death June 9, 1933. He leaves a son Lovern of Sibley, two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Beecher of Gibson City and Mrs. Harold Brandt of Los Angeles, Calif. also three grandchildren. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Ida Miller of Maywood, Illinois, Mr. Sam Brower to Newyago, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bickle of Grant, Mich., Mr. Walter Ballinger of Colfax. Mrs. Anna Ballinger and Mrs. Letrita Kaiser and daughter of Gibson City, Mrs. Ines Falner and daughter of Elliott, Mrs. Bertha French and Mrs. Edith Moore of Chatsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rohner and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Rohner and son of Loda, Illinois, Miss Pearl Powell and Mrs. en Pofer of Fairbury, Illinois.
