From the Fort Worth Star Telegram, September 22, 1994, Final Morning Edition, pp 22, 23: Springtown - J.D. Barnum, a truck driver, died Tuesday at home. He was 65.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bible Way Church in Decatur, where he was a member. Burial will be in Springtown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Mr. Barnum was born in Erath County and lived in Springtown for eight years.
Survivors: Wife, Mary Ellen Barnum of Springtown; son, Danny Barnum of Springtown; eight daughters, Shirley Jenkins of Boyd, Geraldine Rearden and Loretta Bruce, both of Mesquite, Brenda Clay and Mary Cato, both of Springtown, Debra Orman of Stillwell, Okla., and Rosa Harvell and Judy Harvell, both of Pelican Bay; brother, Bruce Barnum of Pampa; sister, Bertha Givens of Brownwood; 28
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
