Notes for Mary Lois BARNUM


Obituary from an unidentified contemporary newspaper: Mary Lois , 77, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2003 in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. Whittle, her parents, Arthur and Myrtle Barnum, her granddaughter, Amanda Marie Whittle, and her sister, Bobbie Rae Hibben. Mary Lois taught for many years at Windsor Park Elementary where her problem solving skills enhanced the education of many gifted students. Her love of children, both hers and yours, sustained Mary Lois throughout her life. Mary Lois retired from C.C.I.S.D. in 1990. She is dearly missed by her three sons, William (Ricki) Whittle of Corpus Christi; Claude Michael "Mickey" (Marilyn Sue) Whittle and Robert R. Whittle both of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Melinda (Robert) Whittle Mansfield, Mary Melissa Whittle, Claude Michael (Amber) Whittle, Jr., Sherilyn Laurice Whittle, Erin Jackson Whittle, and Eric Christopher (Monica) Ebbenga; great-grandchildren, Morgan Whittle, Claudia Whittle, Mason Whittle, and Caitlyn Ebbenga. Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaside Chapel with Rev. Michael Whittle of First Baptist Church in Mabank, Texas officiating. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
