Notes for Leland D. BARNUM


From his obituary: Leland D. Barnum, age 73, of Stryker, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Prior to his retirement he had been a lifelong area farmer and had also worked in maintenance at Strydel in Stryker, for over 20 years.
He was born in Stryker on April 27, 1935, the son of the late Herbert B. and the late Leota Mae (Stauffer) Barnum. On August 27, 1955 he married Mary Lou Fair, and she survives. He was a member of the Stryker United Methodist Church, and the Bryan Eagles. He was also a member of the F & AM Lodge #179 in West Unity and the Zenobia Shrine in Toledo.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary Lou, are two daughters Cheryl (Gary) Butler of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Laurie (Randy) Bell of Stryker; one son Herbert Barnum of Stryker; four grandchildren Shannon (Jason) Sprague, Brandon Bell, Corey Bell and Andrew Barnum; three great-grandchildren David Bell, Kristoffer Bell, and Ryan Bell; and one brother Cloice Barnum of Stryker. He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Barnum.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Stryker United Methodist Church, with Pastor Crystal Goodnight, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Stryker United Methodist Church or the Gideons International.
