Notes for Theodore Dwight ROGERS
Theodore Dwight Rogers was responsible for compiling the "New Fairfield Ecclesiastical Society Records," which are stored in a safe in the New Fairfield Public Library and serve as a valuable historical and genealogical source for New Fairfield. He was born in New Fairfield, resided in California for many years and later returned to Connecticut. After his return, he lived in Norwalk with his sisters Emily and Harriet. They were all living together in the Strawberry Hill district of that town at the time of his death. He was a prominent attorney and a true gentleman, with a quiet, retiring disposition. He performed a great deal of charity work, and was admired by all who knew him.
He shares a gravestone with his sisters Emily and Harriet, who died some ten years later than he. The gravestone reads: Rogers - Theodore Dwight, July 10, 1822 - Dec. 26, 1905; Emily Louise, March 6, 1828 - Dec. 27, 1915; Harriet Alice, Aug. 24, 1837 - Dec. 27, 1915; children of Amzi & Betsey Barnum Rogers.
