Notes for John Clayton BARNUM
From the Bridgeport Telegram of October 8, 1954: John C. Barnum Dies; Danbury Developer. Danbury, October 7. John C. Barnum, 56, dairy farmer and recently active in real estate development in Pembroke district died suddenly Wednesday night at his home on Pembroke Road. Services will take place Saturday at 1 PM at the Tomlinson Homestead with Rev. Alan Hutchinson, pastor of the New Fairfield Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Pembroke Cemetery. Mr. Barnum was born in Danbury and engaged in dairy farming most of his life. In 1947, he entered the real estate field with his brother, George C. Barnum. He is survived by his mother, Capitola Barnum, three other brothers, Luther A., Howard and Chester L. Barnum; a nephew and two nieces all of Danbury.
