From the Sandusky Register News, Sandusky, Ohio, Saturday, October 29, 1955: Port Clinton, Oct. 29 – Funeral services for Alva S. Barnum, 80, a life-long resident of Catawba Island who died at Magruder Memorial Hospital on Friday (October 28) following a brief illness will be held at 2 pm Monday. Burial is in Catawba Island Cemetery. Mr. Barnum was a retired fruit grower and contractor. Surviving are a son, Ulmer Barnum, Catawba Island and several nieces and nephews.
