Notes for Roza BARNUM
From The Lincoln State, Lincoln, Nebraska, Tuesday, October 30, 1956: Washington, D.C. - Funeral services were held here for Mrs. Roza Barnum Spellman, 80, a native of Bloomington, Nebraska and former resident of Blue Springs and Beatrice. Burial will be in Beatrice. Mrs. Spellman died Friday (October 26). She taught in country schools in Nebraska and Wyoming before marrying a Beatrice dentist. Following her husband’s death in 1939, she lived in Beatrice and Blue Springs until 1952, when she moved to Washington. Her deceased sister, Mrs. Josiah A. Van Orsdel was the wife of the late Judge Van Orsdel. Surviving are daughters Mrs. Kathryn S. Warren of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Marguerite Hummel of Orlando, Florida; a brother, Eli Barnum of New Orleans, Louisiana, one grandson and one great-grandson.
