Notes for John Henry Yaitinthe LIGER
John Henry Yaitinthe Liger also used the name Henry Liger. Alternative birth years of 1800, 1807, and 1809 have been found, for him, but only the 1800 date agrees with his birth place, which has been consistently shown as New York. His parents moved to Canada in 1801. He had military service on 24 December 1828 in the New York militia and his age was given as between 19 and 29 (he would have been 28 if born in 1800). In 1852 he lived at 352 South 4th Street, Southwark Ward No. 4, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as listed in the Philadelphia City Directory of that year; he was listed as living with his mother. He was recorded as a laborer in the Canada Census of 1861. He and his third wife, Jessie unknown appear in that census (dated 24 February) at Port Ryerse, Ontario, Canada. They were members of the Wesleyan Methodist denomination.
