Notes for Marietta BARNUM

Marietta can be found living with an Edward R. Long in the 1860 Census for Keokuk City, Iowa. The census record gives the appearance that Marietta is the wife of Edward. Perhaps this was an error on the part of the census taker, or this was the second of three marriages. To date, no documentation has been located to support the marriage.

The Lee County wills index lists Marrietta's surname as Henry and refers to her former spouse R.B. Ross. (www.rootsweb.com - Lee County Genealogy, South Lee County Wills, Appx. 1850-1950 Keokuk, Iowa (Compiled by Ruth Dresser)). Perhaps Mr. Henry was a sibling of Charles Henry who married Marietta's sister Nancy.
