From The Otsego Farmer, August 6, 1948: The death of Leon Hiram Ellsworth, a native and life-long resident of Cooperstown, which occurred without warning as he slept, Sunday, August 1st, proved a great shock and brought deep sadness to the entire community. Leon Ellsworth was born May 22, 1886, the son of Hiram and Ellen Wood Ellsworth. On November 15, 1913 he was united in marriage with Laura Barnum also of Cooperstown.
