From the Putnam County Courier, Carmel, New York, June 13, 1984: Mrs. Evelyn Schlaile, 80, formerly of Fowler Ave., Carmel, died June 8 in Highland Hospital, Beacon. The widow of Frederick Schlaile, she had been living at the Fishkill Health Related Center in Beacon. She was born Feb. 9, 1904, in Waterbury, Ct., daughter of the late George and Alice Barnes Betts. She attended Carmel schools and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Carmel. She is survived by a son, Carlton Schlaile of Carmel; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Mulligan officiating. Burial was in Towners Cemetery.
