Notes for Zaida W. BARNUM

The daughter of Benjamin Ewart Barnum (1860-1947) and Emily Delle Cooley (1867-1915), Zaida Barnum was born in Utah in 1895, residing with her family by 1900 in Detroit, Michigan. In 1920, she boarded in Detroit with John and Gertrude Ulick, working at Detroit Edison Electric Company as a clerk.
Zaida married Myron William Bowen, the son of Charles Henry Bowen and Amelia Augusta Catherine Willnow, marrying in Detroit on May 10, 1920 and having one daughter together. In late August of 1920, they traveled across the Michigan-Canada border, perhaps traveling to Niagara Falls on a honeymoon, and returning to Detroit on September 24 of that year.
They made their home together in Detroit, where Zaida's husband worked for a hydraulic brake company. By 1940, they had moved to Niles, Michigan, while her husband worked Bendix Home Appliance Company.
Widowed in 1968, Zaida Bowen passed away in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 75 and is buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Clarkston, Michigan.
