Post Your Research Queries

If you have research questions about your line of descent, there are at least three good places to post them.

One is the Barnum query page of Genealogy.com. This is part of the main search and query page for Genealogy.com, which hosts the historical GenForum message boards. The page allows you to search through hundreds of thousands of forum posts and contributions. While you can search and read existing forums, the site is now in read-only mode, although they have added functionality to comment on existing threads. The site is located at: http://www.genealogy.com/barnum/.

Another possibility is the Ancestry.com Surname Message Board, a public, searchable forum containing over 25 million posts, designed for genealogists to connect, share information, and break through research "brick walls". It is located at http://boards.ancestry.com/.

A third query page is that of RootsChat, a popular free online forum dedicated to genealogy and family history research. Although it has U.S. users, its primary focus is on the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It allows users to connect with others researching the same families or local areas. This site is known as one of the largest and busiest free family history communities online. Located at: https://www.rootschat.com.
